Heteronormativity does not only effect variant sexual identities but everyone and holds also its protagonists captive, whether we follow the norms or rebel.

How can we attempt to construct positive self regard and a constructive experience of minoritised identities in a heteronormative society?

Independent Clinical Psychologist and trainer



Dr Gillian Proctor is a Clinical Psychologist and the programme leader for the MA in psychotherapy and counselling at the University of Leeds. Her particular interests are in ethics, politics and power and she has written 'The dynamics of power in counselling and psychotherapy' (PCCS Books: 2002/17) and 'Ethics and values in counselling and psychotherapy' (Sage: 2014).
